I love this photo and gave it an 8. It was the best out of the box submission (IMO) that you could really see HOT in. The catch light in the eyes is great, I love that I can see the tongue in the bowl (that's what made it for me). Only downfall IMO is the cutoff paw. Adding a little more frame to the bottom would have placed the eyes and the lip of the bowl on thirds and added a better balance IMO

On a personal side, This pup reminds me of my Max, Max is a LabX (we think Great Dane). We adopted Max when he was six months old. We where the third people to take Max home and by six months he had already been so badly abused that I had to hand feed him 2-4 kibbles at a time. For almost two months to gain his trust. He is missing teeth from the abuse so his tongue hands out the side of his mouth quite often. Its quite funny to see and your photo reminded me of puppy Max. It's been just over a year that we have had him and he is very happy and adjusting well. Still has some moments but we know how to read him.

Good photo, shitty score. I think it should have done much better. Maybe its worth an OOBE!

One thing I think that kept the score average

Not razor sharp..I have the same lens and love it. I find that F8-F11 are best for a setup like this. And if you want to really black out the background. Keep the subject and the background as far away from each other as you can. Dial your aperture down to the smallest opening F25/F29 depending on you focal length. Put as much light on the subject as you can while keeping off the background. This will let the shutter open and close before the light has a chance to reflect off the background and back into the camera. More light would have helped the color of the pepper POP too.
I like the composition, the subject, and overall idea (I shot something very similar)here. Please PM me if you have any questions or comments

Nice capture. Looks like you could have used a little rotation and if you crop out half the water would end up with a clearer division of thirds. It would also add a little needed width to this pic. Best of luck. Scott

You got a little motion blur going here, and not really enough of it to make it look creative. The flame is really overexposed and I think your white balance is way off too. I don't expect this will do too well (sorry). If you have questions or comments please PM me. Best of luck. Scott

Hooker heals and hot pink what a combo. I like the backlighting of this pic but that's about it. The tall crop makes it look like a long focal length and that you where just pervn on these girls. Best of luck. Scott

OK this photo really does not have a lot going for it. First it is really flat. The banks flower logo is cut in half, the bricks on the bottom right really don't add anything to the capture. Its been taken from a slight angle but not significant enough to look intentional or purposeful. And the crop isn't centered. True that the sign reads 99degs and that's hot, but this pic just isn't. This was my lowest rated photo for the hot challenge "4" because it is in focus and hot can be seen in the photo without having to read the title. If you where going for Brown or trying to sabotage your score for the better then average side challenge you have succeeded. If not and you have questions or comments please PM me. Scott
