| 10/01/2002 12:09:00 PM | Flying on the pondby ChuscaComment: The horizon's skyline with the bird flock reflecting in the pond is very nice, but, how come you didn't crop this one in the bottom to remove the aparent trash? This would have been better for the "Grabage" challenge. |
| 10/01/2002 08:06:00 PM | Reflections in my eyesby simonaComment: IMHO, if you submit an image with such a basic problem as lack of focus, the only constructive critique you can expect is that, and that you already knew when you submitted the photo. I think you should have included the baby's painted hand (right side of image), and not kept the baby right in the middle of the composition as an ordinary snapshot. I assume you used a flash, (although I might be wrong). Even if it's another intense source of ilumination, it is very helpful to use a gauze strip or some translucent white fabric in front of it, in order to soften the strike of light. The girl is totally cute. |
| 10/01/2002 06:58:00 PM | 45 RPMby TiNComment: IMHO, meeting the challenge is just a start. I think it should also be atractive, or interesting, or surprising, or informative, or something. Your composition is none of those; no color; not B&W; no determined shape, either figurative or abstract or oniric; and the worst part is the lack of focus, which is always a killer. Even a photo of movement, although not a stop motion image, should be focused; it is the nature of our eyesight. (I am honestly trying to provide useful feedback). |
| 10/03/2002 12:14:00 PM | Sunglassby danmoranComment: IMHO, if you submit a photo with such a clear deficiency as total lack of focus, that will be the only critique you would receive, and that you already knew. So you would be unable to obtain a helpful constructive feedback. Maybe the technical capabilities of your camera cannot provide you with a close up of this nature. |
| 10/03/2002 12:23:00 PM | Bug on the petalby xiaohaiComment: IMHO, it gave me a hard time interpreting the reflection theme in this image. As a flower close up photo, although the focus is adequate, the angle is uninteresting, and deviates atention to the backgroud, which itself is unexplainably ocupied by a human figure that is completely out of context, and dead center of the composition. |
| 10/01/2002 12:24:00 PM | A whole new Worldby maheshparabComment: You have an uninteresting flor and the edge of a common doorway in focus, and your reflection on the can is unfocused. It would be much beter the other way around, I believe... |
| 09/27/2002 09:32:00 AM | Peek into my secret placeby MagsCoyoteComment: Beautiful image. Top 3 for me. In my personal opinion, I would have cropped a little higher the bottom to cover the edge of the wood planks in the water, giving out more space in the upper area, and showing more greenery. That would raise the angle of the point of view. It would have been very nice also if the face hanging from the bridge was more iluminated. This marvelous spot has a european feel; I wonder where this place is. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

| 09/24/2002 02:50:00 PM | Down the drivewayby puppet10Comment: I believe this image ended up not being an abstract, or an effect, or a scenery. It is not inspiring or aesthetic. The few nice colors are wiped and lost in chaos. |
