I know it's not easy getting this close to a bird's face, but other than the title, this seems to be stretching the challenge. Also, when you have this opportunity, try focusing on the tip of the beak, but with enough DOF to keep the eyes sharp. This picture could also benefit from more space around the top of the head (the neck feathers don't really add much).

While the lines give this some potential, it could benefit from less exposure and more DOF. Also, check your WB setting when you head indoors.

The title can almost pull this into the challenge, but...the cropping, lighting, lack of sharpness, etc, says this is a snapshot. The expression has potential. Maybe next time, try a different angle with different lighting?

This emotion/state is mind is so hard to capture; it takes a lot of practice. Try a faster shutter speed and/or a higher ISO. The lighting would be ok, but you don't want quite so much exposure.

Escape

This is a tough shot to pull off. You need flash (or some other light) to get the colors, but the flash itself is too harsh. On the other hand, if you were simply trying to convey "escape" to freedom, you probably could have skipped the flash. Next time, try shooting it with and without.

The tree in the foreground kills this. If you have the opportunity, try to scoot around for different angles. This probably could have been an interesting opportunity if you could have gotten behind the calves. The lighting and the colors are nice.

I get the idea, but the negative space doesn't hold my attention. This needs more in order to get the picture to tell its story.

While I like the color and lighting, this seems to be more of a snapshot hoping to fit the challenge. Maybe if you had had the opportunity to shoot a few more shots capturing different facial expressions? Also, without more background context, I can't tell if you had any other cropping alternatives.
