I like this quite a bit - very rich color in the sky. I'm not so fond of the tree, it detracts from the simple message in the rest of the shot.

That smoke is excellent - in a photographic sense I mean -great detail. This is a powerful image for me, well done! My only suggestion - the smokestack seems too short. I can't really articulate why I think that, but it just does.

Wonderful detail, sharpness, and color on the foreground! The composition seems too centered, with the hill in the middle - but I don't know how to suggest cropping? Maybe a little from the top as the grass in the foreground adds a lot of depth that I wouldn't want to lose.

The dark and red lighting certainly makes this a depressing shot - you have achieved the exact opposite of "hope" - which I assume is your point! I know that sometimes you can give the feeling of something by showing the opposite - get to fear by showing somebody being brave or something, but, while well done, this just sucks the hope right out of me.

Nice idea - I would suggest cropping out the bottom - get rid of all the trees and whatnot - it would make him look a lot higher and add intensity to his "hope".
