handsby rhipsterComment: The lighting in this image has been artistically executed. The image portrays a sense of strength combined with suppleness, like a quiet gentle strength. I think this image could also be cropped tight around the hands and shoulder area because this central area of the photo seems to be a condensed representation of the whole image. Its a beautiful image. |

Brooklyn in Summer.by the-O-sterComment: I really like the composition of this image. It really captures a mood of disorganisation. The red colouring doesn't really work for me personally I think it detracts from the impact of the composition. I think black and white may have been interesting as well. I think the space on the top half of the image adds to the impact of the mood. |

Meby ScreechingtonComment: The colour and lighting work well. This image has a mellow sort of tone. The composition seems to lack a strong focal point. The image does look a bit "chopped off" on the right hand side. The tone and light are beautiful though. |

Snale traveling by boatby HeidieComment: This is great fun. It reminds me of a poster for a Japanese 'B' Grade horror movie. The sepia tones do wonders for the image. Even the reflection in the water is terrific. |

Two of a Kindby moviemanComment: I really like the composition and the mood created by the noise and the high contrast. |

Beacon of Hope?by muur88Comment: Great image. The atmosphere you have created is quite dramatic. The composition is awesome with the clutter gathering in the corner and all the space above. It has a kind of dramatic silence that somehow speaks more of hope than despair. The crisp lighting adds a touch of surealism that makes it a bit dream like. It borders on being a characature of the theme but doesn't quite go that far (which I think is a good thing). I guess I'm saying this is an edgy picture in a number of ways. On a side note if you were to paint out the building on the right and the trees on the left to create a black backdrop it would look like the set of a modern play (that wouldn't be allowed under the challenge rules though). I don't mean to rave on, this image just inspires my imagination so much. Good luck with the challenge. |

Bonsaiby pmichaudComment: I really like this photo. The effect is quite dramatic. I have a couple of suggestions. The red and white tags area bit distracting it would have been nice if they had been removed before the shot. The other is that the the bonsai trees are a bit dark. I see that the sun was coming from behind the trees. In a program like Photoshop you may be able to adjust the levels to bring them up in brightness a bit. Also a slightly lower angle would be interesting so that the top tree had its leaves sitting against the sky (possibly). I don't mean to be critical I just think that the idea behind the shot is so interesting that with the right treatment this could be a truly exceptional shot. The kind that wins awards etc. Good luck with your photography. You obviously have an eye for a good shot. |

Coppertop Carrierby BikeRacerComment: Clever idea. Quite effective too. The composition works well. It looks like you used two copies of the same picture for your background (one for the floor and one for the background). The point where they touch can be seen. This detracts a little from the impact of the image. Fun image though. Good luck. |
