nice idea. good angle and good cropping.
i converted your photo to black&white and i think it looks better that way. this filters out the reddish tones from the eye which is distracting from the teeth. also it would be better when the longer tooth would be more in focus.

i'm not sure if the wire really adds something. i think it would be better when it wouldn't go right through the photo but would frame it on the edges instead.

No Fear

Wow, never had such varying comments :-)
I knew it was too dark outside when I shot this photo. Aperture already was as wide as possible. Also couldn't increase shutter speed without making it even darker. I wanted to reshoot this one another day but hadn't the time for it (neither my "subject"). I still thought it was better than my spider shot ;-)
In post editing I could have made it lighter but it looked ok on my monitor (night, dimly lit room). When I got to work next day, I was shocked to see how dark it was. Well... learnt another thing this week ;-)
We tried a lot and I experienced it being extremly difficult to shoot at the right moment and move the camera with the right speed to have the subject in focus.
Anyway, thanks to everybody who broaded their mind and didn't rate it low just because "No Fear" is not "Fear". Why do you know that this kid really has no fear? Just because of the title? It's just my interpretation.
Also thanks to everybody who despite of the technical flaws recognized the idea.

nice photo! good composition. the empty space on the left side creates room for the imaginary intruder, monster or whoever is "there". nice lighting also and a good expression on the boys face.
i don't know if it's just my eyes who stared too much on monitors but i see square patterns around the light. maybe it's bad jpeg compression or a limitation of the camera, no points lost for that.
i like this photo.
only trifle is the strange blot between the candle and the face. almost looks like i touched my monitor there, but it moves when i scroll the photo up and down ;-)

strong photo! good contrast for that. i don't know if that was especially chosen but if so it was a good decision to have the girl wear black cloths.
unfortunatley the photo is a bit blurred. more sharpness would be nice.

you could have zoomed in a little more. also the lighting is not very good. her left arm is too bright.
i would have chosen a much lesser DOF. it would be better when the background is blurred so that the viewer isn't distracted by the detail in the back.

Arachnophobia

nice photo. interesting effect how the pattern on the spiders back merges with the thaw drops.
a bit unbalanced because of the huge dark area in the upper left corner.
maybe try to crop the left third of the picture. that would also create an interesting off centering of the spider.
"fear" is ok, though the spider looks not very frightening. zooming in for showing more detail might have helped with that.
