| 07/28/2004 04:24:50 PM | Jalapeño projectby redmondson01Comment: Neat.. The overexposed highlight is a bit much for my liking, but this is really well done, the composition is good, focus is bang on, the only annoying bit for me is the highlight. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

| 07/19/2004 04:14:30 PM | Talking Handsby jcordinaComment: Neat... I'm not sure if it would be better with all the hands in focus, but I do find the front pair to be a little distracting being out of focus. Neat idea, and well done.. You've obviously got four very patient friends there! | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 07/19/2004 04:23:18 AM | Nothin To Sayby surajbharComment: This is very 'National Geographic', and has photojournalism oozing from every pore, but it's a little loose on a match to the challenge. What has caused this chaps deformity do you know? |
| 07/19/2004 04:17:49 AM | Isaby middelboschComment: Was Neatimage (or something similar) used on this? The girls skin seems to have a wee bit of that plastic feeling, which is not my cup of tea. nice B&W though, the range of tones is good and I like the composition. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

Your colour balance appears to be off though, and the two highlights on the right (your left) eye are a little hot and distracting.
Her left (your right) cheek appears to be suffering from jpeg compression woes, or you pushed the contrast/brightness too far in your ediing program, and there are definate 'bands' of colour from black to the skin tone. Your image is only 65k, so you had quite a bit of room to move in terms of JPEG compresion, as the site limit is 150k. If it's a PS issue, and you greated the high-key look using curves, you probably need to re-shoot and try to get closer in the source image. PS will do lots of things, but it's not magic.
You've got a great eye, and this shot shows that in it's composition on the high-key tones. Looking forward to seeing more.... | Photographer found comment helpful. |

Looks like you've gota bit of motion blur in this shot, will be interested to see what iso/shutter/apeture you were using. Obviously a reasonably small F number/large apeture as the background is nicely blurred, but I wonder if you couldn't have changed your ISO setting up a couple of notches, or pushed it -1 stop? The noice/grain of higher ISO would not have hurt this shot at all, and may have enhanced it a little, and pushing 1 or even 1.5 stops would have been OK as well as the shirt looks a little over exposed.
Dunno what sort of camera you have, but on mine I can take a 'test' metering without looking through the viewfinder, to see what shutter speed I'm metering, and it shows on the LCD on top of the camera, so I can change settings before annoying the 'model' by pointing the obviously at them.
Really nice photo, missed the challenge brief by a country mile, still giving it a 5 as I'm jealous of anyone who has the guts to do street photography like this.. :-). |
