Abandoned Carby Herblacklist12Comment: Extremely nice colors. The open door helps but I feel that there is very little in the light to be photographed from this side of vehicle. The sky makes a nice backdrop, but the sky to the right is a much nicer blue than the sky to the left. I think a shot from almost ground level taken from the left side would be much more lovely.

hide and seekby amygonzalesComment: As this is not clearly an entry for this challenge I am only rating it a 2. I reserve 1 for the obscene and horridly ugly. But on its own merits as a photo, this is a very interesting and cute shot. The fence is unfortunate. |

My "entry"by RUEDISCHMUTZComment: And what pleasure's must await beyond if the entry itself is so beautiful. Excellent time of day for this shot. The L shaped shadow of just the right shadow density is an unexpected bonus. Very lovely colors, and right on focus and exposure. A 10 and high in the upper 10 percent for this challenge. |

How dull it is to pause, to make an end, To rust unburnished, not to shine in useby NRRonComment: Nice framing (I would have liked all of tire at left in frame) nice light. The car tire helps to define this as a toy, but it cuts into the pleasure of viewing this relic.
The strong focus on the rocks in the foreground indicates the difficulty that is inherent in bringing rust into sharp focus. Except for the car tire, I love the setting, the angle of the sun's light, and the color of the plow.
Very nice job. A 7. |

Spring has Sprungby willtataComment: The grass has riz. Spring foliage colors combine well with old innerspring. What would make this picture fully for me is a remaining tag threatening to the full extent of the law against its removal. Just joking. On the more serious side, rust is hard to photograph. Its powdery and dark nature make it hard to render as a highly focused shot. I would have liked to have seen the mattress dragged out of its surroundings and rearranged to make one or two springs very clearly defined.
Great background by the way!

End of the lineby BrennanOBComment: Great selection of what to show and what not to show. The raintracks through the rust and the ideal combination of car color and rust color really make an appealing picture. I would like to see this with the full arc of the circle on the right present but something tells me this is exactly the right cropping. The bottom edge could have been straightened a hair.

Morning Rustby bendbComment: And the reason why. Very nice photo. The subject is not as totally defined as I would like. I would like to have seen this with the camera closer, with a little more exposure on the wire. The background is wonderful. It would have been superb if the raindrop had brought into focus what the aperture of the camera left diffuse.
The gradation of color and light in the background is highly appealing and I enjoy looking at this picture. I am hesitating about moving onto the next one to rate.
Great work.

Manhattan Westside Docksby elinenbeComment: Or, a nursing pig's tummy. I love this photo. It is a joy to look at. The lighting and colors are delightful. I hope you enjoy looking at this as much as I do.
A 10, and certainly high in the top ten percent. |

Vigilant Discby uctopukComment: The composition is nice, although the clouds could have been a little more cooperative in their forms. The appliance at the center of the disc though is far too undefined. It is not defined by contrast with its surroundings or by color or by focus and the shadows confound its shape rather than helping to define. Obviously a difficult subject to photograph.

Rusted Wheelbarrowby cbellerComment: I would have liked this better with a lower sun. The shadow under the rim and the heavily shadowed bottom of the wheel barrow leave the eye to examine the handle as it bends its way to the wheel. This unfortunately is not an altogether pleasant journey for the eye. The nicest part of this photo is the sunlit side of the wheel barrow, the foliage, flowers and sky. Even if out of context, cleaning the white on the wheel would have added to aesthetic. I would also have liked to see the full wheel barrow in the frame.
