I find the water element in this shot very interesting to look at. I like the blue background and composition you've used to create contrasts. IMHO the focus on the orange could be better. Maybe more lighting and a faster shutter speed? Just my humble opinion, nice shot nonetheless

Nice composition and DOF here. The lighting you've used really works well. I have to admit though IMO the ornament does not create enough contrast and attention to make me think "burst of color". Nice shot nonetheless

Thanks for the kind comments Matt and David, and everyone else who commented as well. I think the shot suffered from being too "busy" and not having a clear subject. But that's the way the DPC cards fall I guess :) The setting was actually very well lit despite being 11pm at night. So that helped alot with the shutter speed and hand-holding the camera.
