Beautiful image, and while I love your "paper" idea, I bet you're getting hammered in the voting because "no rocks or scissors," right. Too bad. This is a wonderful shot. Love the blur, love the color, love the simplicity. Beautifully done image. Great imagination, great composition, crop, etc. Given the absolute simplicity of the idea, I would have cleaned and polished the scissor blade and reshot. That's the only (minor) complaint. Good entry!

We Only Like The Blue Ones

Fantastic, what appeal from a simple shot of a scissors. It is this kind of photographic vision that keeps me coming back to this site. Your shot makes it worth it to click through dozens of OK photographs just to wait for that moment of brilliance. About the shot, such excellent visual appeal, such sharp lines and contrasting colors. The bottom part of the orange seems a bit off in color, but that might just be the texture of the plastic itself. This image is my first (and maybe only) 10 of the challenge. Hats off to you.

Birthday Rocks

My first response to the image itself is that, it's kind of messy and a little chaotic. Looking at the title though gives the needed info, wrapping paper undone, and rocks in side. The overall picture feels softly focused, especially on the rocks, which makes it tough to identify what they are at first. The one in the corner looks more like a decorated cookie actually. Frankly, it's not an image that has a lot of eye appeal. It's disorganized and a little messy, and there's lots of distracting lint on the bottom edge. A simpler setup might have been better, maybe a box, opened with paper opened to reveal a rock?

Adding this to my favorites because anyone who has the pursuasive power to duct-tape a friend upside down from a staircase, simply to take a picture - now THAT's a photographer. Keep going, keep shooting, keep taping people to things!
