Sharp, sharp, sharp and nicely saturated. This could hang on a wall.

Without commenting on the political commentary you seem to be going for (and no, I'm not worried...oops I commented): the focus point seems to be on the couch, I would expect it to be on the dog and the white balance is way off to my taste.

I like the monochrome and the dark/light/dark. But for some reason, I am left wanting for more detail.

Somehow, I feel like this should have been rotated 90 degrees clockwise. Other than that, the shot itself doesn't really hold my interest. To me, the shadows are kind of harsh, and the photo isn't really sharp. If there were water coming out of the mouth, maybe I would like it better.

The "golden hour" light, the blurred background. the sad puppy face...it all adds up to one really nice photo. Well done.

Even though some people on DPC just don't like selective desaturation, doesn't mean we all hate it. I like when it is used in the right situation. This is the right situation.

To me this depicts the darkening of the years and perhaps they have great ahppy memories of the island.

My only thisng I would say bothers me....I feel like they are going to go sliding off the end of the bench. I know you wanted to keep the island straight, but the foreground has a mighty tilt to it.

Without the single bird, this would be "just another sunrise" to me. Nice capture.

From what I've heard about visiting Staten Island light, you really were risking it taking this shot. My understanding is that the neighbors aren't lighthouse visitor "friendly".

This is absolutely gorgeous.
