Inverted and tinted blue like this, it looks sort of like an airport x-ray. Otherwise, it might have been a good interpretation of the challenge.

Way too contrasty. You have lost a lot of detail. Also, you might experiment with disabling the flash attached to your camera, and taking pictureswith available light.
I love the intent expression on the child's face!

Well, it's a cool tool, but the snapshot of it lacks interest. Maybe this would have been better as a close up of just more visually interesting parts of the machine. And, something besides the flash attached to the camera.

I know you were counting on the weather for your lighting, but something a little less flat would have been better. Sometimes you can make up for flat grey days by having someone hold a white sheet up close by, to reflect more light onto one side of your subject. It's a good subject.
