My first submission.
I didn't pay close enough attention to the ISO speed so this has too much noise.

Wow mom, top ten on your first submission! Not surprized but, cool! Congratulations!!
Really creative problem solving to get the champagn and suspended motion look and the lighting. Too bad not a member challenge so you could darken the base of the glass. I really like the satin, elegant and different from the typical black.
Nice work!

Wow! I'm really happy that this did so well. Thanks to all for the supportive comments.
This was not a lucky shot as several believe. The ring is placed exactly where I wanted it using a nylon 'string' to suspend it in the glass. I tried to get the liquid to look like Champagne, by using 7-Up, but the bubbles stuck to the ring. The liquid is water (wishing to be Champagne).
The air bubles help to hide the 'string'. I waited until night to avoid reflections on the glass and lit the ring with a flashlight from above. I had to try over 100 exposures to get what I wanted. The background is a cream colored Satin pillow case.

The only distracting thing is the bright dash at the bottom of the glass that's rising upwards. I gave it a 10 nonetheless! Amazing.

Great job. Classy. Good speculars. Stands out as good as a thumbnail as when viewed fully. Great lighting and good positioning of the ring toward the camera.

I like this suspended motion shot. Very persistent in its emotional appeal.

OOOO- i love it~! i honestly do~! i tried one exactly like this, only with a tan back drop, personaly, i caught light in the stem of the glass too, and that lead to me dropping the photo. lol, plus the fact that the ring that i was "showing off" wasn't very impressive. i hope i see you in the top ten~! all the best to you~!

Classic idea, yet there weren't any in this challenge that caught my eye. It's a great catch but I think there are some things you could improove like the lighting, though you did not get any glares on the glass, there are some on the bottom part, wish that had been avoided has it catches the eye of viewer but it's just a minor detail. The bubbles on the glass, there was some way you could avoid it as well but I can't really remember, I think it was boiling the water or something. Anyway I love the background as well, the highlights on the ripples, the color, that was a really good choice.
