I think a little different angle, to get the sun out of the picture, would have given you richer colors. Also, shallow depth of field has gotten half the flower out of focus. It looks like you were trying to get the flower against the sky, but the darker background of grass and trees would have contrasted more with the backlit petals.

You were trying for a tough one, and only missed by a little. Keep taking pictures!

I really love the idea, but it didn't make a good composition. Maybe just one hand, fingers together, would have been easier to identify, and more interesting. It certainly is a great take on the challenge!

What you have here is pretty much the reverse of backlighting. The background is dark, and the light is from the front. It's a nice shot of a late afternoon storm, though.
