Timid Angel

Despite the angel wings (no offense!) to which I have a persoanl aversion (probably a product of being a dA member for so long!) this is a very slick shot. Great lighting and beautiful model. A little underexposed for me although I think it facilitates the juxtaposition between light/dark, angel etc.

I would have maybe gone for a slightly closer crop...trimmed off the very top of her head, and lost the negative space to the left and right, but this came out nicely. 8

Could be a little sharper around the eyes, ideally, but nicely composed. I would have maybe put her a little further right in the frame and I think this would benefit from a little more brightness. That being said, there's very little else wrong with this shot. Nice work!

Does that girl have one blue and one green eye? Would have liked to see that! Nice composition...why the heavy colour cast (I can see it was obviously done intentionally)? Ruins a great shot in my opinion. 5

Interesting idea to expose for the sunglasses. Although I'd be lying if I said I found this shot aesthetically pleasing (purely because of all the blown highlights) - 6 for your original take, though. Nice thinking.

If this doesn't win it'll be an absolute travesty. Amazing shot - brilliant use of negative space and the lighting is incredible. I like how you've given the head a 'severed' feel and the model expression is brilliant. This is one of my favourite DPC shots ever - great work.

Nice Lesley! Such an honest and well defined shot and you've composed this fantastically well. Perfect DOF and congrats on another ribbon :)

Certainly showcasing our countrymen/women/children in the DPC top 10 with your portraiture!

I gave this a 10. I think this result is really unfair as this is an amazing shot. Bad luck, man, it's a bit of a tragedy that this wasn't at least in the top 10 in my opinion...

Mightymite pickups! Doesn't communicate live music all that well to me but I guess not everyone had access to a live concert. This shot is a little bland, for me and quite unbalanced compositionally due to the visible edge in bottom right.

I don't have many ideas on how to improve this shot...perhaps playing with a couple of angles and things, trying to find something dramatic...also, there appears to be a bit of noise which detracts from the image a little.

Good luck in the challenge

Great colours, perfect motion blur and brilliantly sharp. Nice and simple composition but what more could you ask for? A fantastically executed live music shot... well done.

Great idea but I think your lighting has let you down a little. I'm sure this shot was very different in your mind? The WB is slightly off and this is, unfortunately far too dark. Compositionally I would have maybe done things a little differently as well, not as much of a close crop and with the piano perpindicular to the body, if you know what I mean.

If I were you I'd persist and persist in reshooting this because I think this is a fantastic idea, good luck! :)
