Oh yeah, it's cool. 8 |

Bleeding Heartby jin_tonicComment: This is an incredible effect. Pity you didn't do better because there is no denying the quality of this shot.

Green Genesby JesuispeureComment: Perhaps this would have done better if you had got both in focus, the eyes and the apples. Maybe with the model holding the apple up to her face or something (I dunno). As it is, I really like this shot and I think you should have maybe placed a little higher :/ Her eyes are incredible - good idea for the challenge.

Dominoby vasilkovayaComment: This should have placed a lot higher. Maybe if you eliminated the shadow on the right hand side a bit more it would have done better but that's so subtle I'm surprised anyone noticed. Bad luck on not placing in the top 10 at least :(

Crisp and Simpleby AlexMontyComment: Originally posted by legalbeagle: I liked this - amazing detail on the apple skin. Thought it deserved more than this! |
Thanks for the encouragement, man. I think this shot works better out of an 'apple challenge' context because as an idea for the apple challenge it's a bit flat, but as a generic textured macro shot it works. I think I got grilled by the voters for the simplicity of the subject and the perceived lack of creativity.
Strangely enough, I thought this was quite a 'stock photography' type image which can sometiems do well on DPC - the voters are pretty unpredictable hehe. |

This is not "The Son of Man"by MatthewComment: I like this a lot - pretty surprised it ranked down here but what can you do? Great interpretation of the original piece and you've made slight adjustments which suit 'this medium'. Bad luck to do so badly with such a cool image.

Thanks man, I was a little disappointed too. I was quite happy with my idea and it got me to take this photo, which I like :) I appreciate your comment!

Floating by StagoleeComment: Fantastic shot, a well deserved ribbon. On a personal note regarding the subject: I love the way the beaks have been trailing in the water. Too bad these guys aren't very granular, otherwise I think you may have had the perfect ribbon winning formula ;) You might have a shot at beauty though haha. Congratulations once more-
