Or my preferred title - Ceci n'est pas "The Son of Man", which might go down badly.
Rene Magritte is a truly fantastic artist - "The Son of Man" is a picture that I have always admired (and can relate to). And famous now thanks to the Thomas Crown affair film.
Wish this was an advanced challenge - lots to do here still!
apple on fishing line in front of my face, camera on self timer.
Post processing was auto levels, brightness up and down and noise & dust flters to get rid of trace of fishing line. some colour changed in hues (yellows moved to make apple greener, reds down and darkened, blues saturated and darkened) some levels (recast red and green channels) and saturation variously up and down at various stages. crop, resize, USM, submit.
Expect to get criticised for over processing, but don't care. Had to do a lot to get rid of fishing line in basic editing - could have done something less processed in advanced!

Disclaimer: *I didn't vote* (the apple challenge just didn't appeal to me). I'd say the reason you didn't do brilliantly - i.e the fifteen ones would have come from people who were sick of seeing the margritte imitiations. There were quite a few of them in this challenge, and there have been quite a few of them in other challenges in this site.
While not very original, it was a very well done shot in the technical sense |

I like this a lot - pretty surprised it ranked down here but what can you do? Great interpretation of the original piece and you've made slight adjustments which suit 'this medium'. Bad luck to do so badly with such a cool image.

| This needed to be validated? ( I think that's some string/monofilament I see coming from that apple? Not bothersome though. ) Hmmm...The best Magritte homage..nice light, nice clear colors esp. that red tie...maybe a little too much sharpness ? I'm not sure...but very nicely done indeed....that red tie is scrumptous. |

| I noticed a couple of other similar ideas in the challenge, but this is the most well executed for me. Great colors. I really like the shiny tie. The apple just looks a little strange however as though it was cut and pasted even though I know it wasn't. Maybe because it is so far forward from the face. Overall very well done and I gave 8. |
