The Flowers and the Butterfly

The Flowers and the Butterfly

Good detail on the butterfly. But the highlight of this shot is definatley the large soft bed of yellow flowers. The butterfly seems to have a bit of soft focus. I think your DOF may have been just a few fractions off. But this would not realy be noticalble unless printing larger than 8X10. Nicely done.

Very cool I just love the fact that the bee is heavily coated in pollen. Just a wonderfull shot. To boost this one a bit more I think I would like a closer crop. The bee is just so spectacular I just want to see more of it. But sometimes the megapixels just don't alow for a closer crop. Very nice shot. Great job!

Great color and composition. With two very interesting and colorfull subjects. As for improving tis image I think I would burn the background a bit. this is a vwery busy shot, and I think a little burning would help pop the subject out a little bit better.

Very well done. I just love the fact that you cauhgt this little guy eating. I do however think I would clone out the OOF water droplets that are around the catipillar. They seem to draw the eyes away from the realy nice center of interest.

I would have to clssify this a side lighting. The shadow near the base of the flower and the slight shadow from the thorns givwe away the direction the light is coming from. However another classification of lighting could be ambeint lighting. Ambeint lighting would appear to have no direction and would evenly light the entire subject. This type of lighting is commonly used in shooting jewelry and other shiney objects. Ambeint lighting is very usefull fur reducing glare on reflective surfaces. But it does tend to give a bit of a flat two dimintional feel to the photo. Very pretty shot.

Yes this would be spot lighting. It draws the veiwer straight to the subject. It also gives you more of a personal feeling than other lighting. Only the lighted subject is available. This is probably one of the most emotional forms of lighting. Very nice example.

Very nice use of side lighting notice how the fine fiber like grooves are visible? In a front light or an ambiant light this would not be the case you would loos a lot of the wonder texture. Each style of lighting has it's pro's and con's. Side lighting is mypersonal favorite expecialy in Macro. Very nice example of sibve lighting.

Bee In Purple

First impressions are very high with this shot. A long straight line shooting up the pahoto. Hundreds of little lines in the background also charging up the top of the photo. The verticle lines add a strong sense of streagnth to the photo. Great details and lots of wonderfull colors. The only draw back to this shot is that your bee tends to fade away in all of the amazing colors and lines of the rest of the photo. How to fix this? I don't know. Saturation bump on the bee? Desat the background a bit? Blur the back ground some more? I must admit. I don't know how to make the bee stand out without killing off some of the other awsome stuff in the shot. Once again Great job!
