Yep, too darn bad that all those people had the nads to state opinions of the shot - even stating them in a respectful way. Yep, they deserve all the bad things you say about them - haters, biased, they are in a little box, enjoying shitting on images, etc., etc... and all those other baseless assumptions you can think of.
Now why again is it that less and less people are leaving comments? Message edited by author 2010-09-22 22:25:23. |

Do I Need Glasses?by 777STANComment: Hi, Critique Club here...
I think this is a really fun image and one that will take it's place well in the family album. I love the glasses.
I think there are a few problems that resulted in the lower score.
1) It has a very snap shot type feel to it. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but for a free study, it won't do well right out of the shoot.
2) There is a fair about noise in the image.
3) Her face is a bit dirty (sand or something)
4) The strong lines in the background are not good (for a higher score that is)
5) Her expression is rather odd. Once again, ok for a snapshot, not for a free study.
The devil is always in the details for these challenges.
Just one person's opinions so take it with a grain of salt. |

Old And Rustyby FoCalComment: Hi, Critique Club here...
I am a sucker for these kind of images, and this one is great. I see someone suggested b/w, but I like it just as is, apparently so did a lot of voters based on your score.
One thing I would suggest you try - just to see how you like it, is to flip the image horizontally. Most people in the world enter an image from the left side and I'm wondering if the machinery on the left would be better at leading the viewer into the scene. I would be interested to know what you think.
Other than that, I don't have much constructive to say.
Great job! |

The Bridge to the Other Sideby Digit3Comment: Hi, Critique Club here...
This is just a terrific photograph, I don't know that I could really come up with any areas for improvement. Your score indicates as much (except for that lone 1, you must have been a threat to someone???)
I like the composition with all the leadin lines. I wish there was something down there for the lines to be taking me to. (OK, I found something to criticize ;) )
Great job! |

the line of beautyby posthumousComment: I just came across this image. I think it's fabulous! It's not happy, but maybe the cycle of life isn't happy either, or maybe it is... |

London Eyeby kaiser_chiefComment: Hi, Critique Club here...
I think this did pretty well for a free study. I like the composition and the colors (colours ;) ) of it. The technicals are right on the money.
I think what would have elevated this into the 6+ range would have been some action, like the wheel spinning. Otherwise, while pretty in its own right, it's a bit static.
I definately don't think it deserved the scores lower than 4. I don't get the voters around here.
If I voted in this challenge, I would have given this a 6. |

Mountain Springby Dr.ConfuserComment: Hi, Critique Club here..
I really like this very powerful image. I think the angle to the tops gives it a very strong feel topped of by the monolithic sense that the Sun provides. The colors are fabulous!
I'm not a huge fan of HDR type images and have to admit the lightness of the near side of the tree looks a bit unnatural to me, but not what I would call over the top.
Not a whole lot more to say about this, particularly over 6 in the free study. If I has voted in this challenge, I probably would have given this a 7. |
