Very nice take on the challenge! The only flaw I see is that it is far too big. I have to use the scrollbar things on my browser to move around the image. I guess it does bring out the detail though.

I don't have a clue how you did this, but it is a fine photo. I think making it B&W instead of giving it the typical surreal pastels takes away a little bit of 'punch' from the image but it still rates very high for me.

very simply... excellent.

The only thing that I believe draws away from the 'surreal' aspect are the pinpoints of light in the background. I think they draw the eye away from the waves a little too much.

That said, I only give 10's rarely and I only give them to photos I would be willing to hang on my wall today. I'd put this on my wall if a print were available.
