A Summer Day Awaitsby andrewmComment: I like the lighting on the bowl itself, but I think the over-exposed brights on the table and above the chair draw the eye away from the focal point of your photo. 5, just-married |

Cageby johnmkComment: Interesting commentary. It appeals to me, although it probably won't to most. It doesn't after all ellicit happy-go-lucky feelings. Still, I like what it has to say. Photographically, there are a lot of nice lines in this photo. You've got the handrails coming perpendicular toward the floorboards; the up and down of the railing pickets against the left-right of the mini blinds, and the strong black lines of the windows to contrast the white railings. The orange picks this picture right up. I like it. 7, just-married |

Oh No!by ClubJuggleComment: Cute idea. Poor sacrificial pot. <grin> I wish the focus was on the larger piece in the background rather than the bottom of the jar in the foreground. I wish I could see the texture in the chocolate cookies too. 5, just-married |

Daddy!by razwanComment: The idea of this photo is strong. The helplessness of childhood and in certain cases the domination of parents speaks to the topic I think. The silhouette works for me even as a child frightened of the wrath of the dfather might not even see Daddy so much as the shape of daddy's hand and the belt. The only contructive suggestion I have is perhaps to lose the vertical blinds. They just seem out of place. I can't quite put my finger on on what it is that bothers me about them, and I almost didn't comment for this reason, but in the end they bother me. 7, just-married |

In Memoryby rocco22Comment: I love the idea, and I especially like the swing from a tree. The angle was interesting. I thought the contrast was a bit overdone. |

Challenges of childhood "Should I go for it???"by TaikimonsterComment: Even if walking the train tracks or listening for the train wasn't a part of someon's childhood, I think the movie Stand By Me immortalized it as a childhood moment. Actually this photo brought back to me the feelings I had for that movie as a child, the empathy I had for the characters. I'm assuming that the person is an adult, filling in to represent a child. (The furry arm gives it away. hee hee) I like him in the photo though many people may complain. I'm sure you've probably been voted down as a result. I only want to say that I think this would be a weaker photo without him in it, so my advice is to ignore and "does not meet challenge" comments you may get. Focus is a bit soft, but for some reason in this photo I think it may add rather than detract. I've gone back and forth on my feelings on that aspect of this photo this week. 6, just-married |

Independence!by focusComment: Nice. I like especially the warm reflections in the fork of the bike. Originally wanted to lose the ad copy in the spokes, but I guess that drives home NEW BIKE, huh? Good sharp still life. Good title. 6, just-married |

Puddle Stompersby bdshortComment: I like the bright contrast of the yellow against the brown and the cool patterns in med on the gollashes (sp?). I think this photo could have been interesting with raindrops falling into the puddle. You can't control the weather of course. Nice photo overall. 6, just-married |

Toys et al.by titotapadoComment: Garage sale. :-) This photo's organization didn't move me very much. The idea of a toys still life is certainly a fine one, but I found the way they were grouped didn't do much for the photo. The items in the background are distracting, and the lighting seems to come entirely from the flash; perhaps different light source would have added mood to the the photo. |

Yes, sir!by stephanComment: I like the idea behind this photo. I like the coil of the belt - it's shape. The lighting although very bright on the belt even worked for me because it caused me to squint and withdraw a bit the way I might if I knew my parent was coming with the belt. My biggest concern with this photo was the belt's placement. I found it appealing and interesting - composed quite like an ad might be; but ulimately I thought it was just too much photo for such a small focal point. TOO much negative space. 7, just-married |
