Concept is a good one. Are you familiar with the line of children's books that illustrates this way? I think it's called Play with Your Food.

In this case, I think the execution needs some tweaking. The light is very bright, too harsh for me. Then there's the roaming eye. LOL. The eye closest to the left of the photo looks right at me, but I can't see the pupil on the other eye and I get the impression that it's looking the other way. That takes away from the realistic portrayla of a face. The edges on the mouth also seem a bit jagged. Can't tell if that's JPG compression or actual cutting. +1 for creativity and obvious effort. 6, just-married

I think this shot is very nice. I think it would be dramatically better if the bottom of the stem were not visible. Still, quite well done. I like the DOF. 7-8, have to decide as the week passes, just-married

The 1st annual Miss Pepper contest -- the bright star on the pedestal. The strip that goes up is what creates interest in this photo for me. It could be the sash on the Miss America of Peppers. All the other little peppers just crowd 'round wanting to be a part of the action. The pepper seeds work nicely as confetti. This photo evokes a feeling of celebration in me. I like it. The composition is very nice. The title doesn't really work for the feelings the photo evoked in me. I understand the reference of course, but the photo seemed more one of celebration to me. 7, just-married

The can and the plate and fork show good depth and contrast, but the background seems very flat/dull to me. I'm not sure how I would adjust that, but thought I'd pass the thought along. 6, just-married

Interesting angle. It took me a few minutes to figure out exactly what I was looking at, but the photo held enough appeal to make me want to keep looking. I like the colors. I like the composition. 8, just-married

VERY NICE INDEED. It's very stark, which works perfectly for the moment captured. This is my absolute favorite pic of the week. It ENTIRELY embodies my idea of candid. The expression on the cop's face MAKES this photo. Black and white was a great decision. You should be in the top three for sure, or I'll be really disappointed. 9, just-married

In a complete aside, I'd love to see other shots you took for this challenge and any tips on how you acheived such clarity in the pic.

Well, I didn't really feel that this met the challenge. I know people get tired of hearing it, but I figure at least if I explain you'll know WHY I voted the way I did, whether you agree or not. If she had been there, but not visible for a motion blur, that would have worked for me. But this is just a photo of a shower door. The reflection of the flash on the right is a distraction to me. This might be an example of me not understanding the humor. If so, at least you know. 2, just-married.
