3 Unfortunate Trees in the Path of a Stormby postoakinversionComment: Great sky! Possibly best of show. Congratulations! I am curious how much post processing was done. I have seen sky just this way but rarely am successful catching it just this way through the lens. Hope you do a tutoril. I'd like to learn. (9) |

Three Men Carved in a Mountainby candycornComment: I like the picture. Overall steel grey works well. Contrast and levels are great. Comp is good. I am wondering though if this violates the rules about taking a photo of another work of art. Voted as though it was ok. (7) |

My car has 2 light sources !by menardmamComment: Every car on the planet has two light sources. This would have been better if it had given me a clue about what was unique about your car. Is it the location? Or the dust/fog. Might have been better to take the lights out of the photo and just caught the fog. The multiple light sources would still have been obvious.
Techniquely, everything is a bit out of focus and the lights are blown out. Balance of dark at the top and light at the botttom feels overweighted. |

Light and shadowby ckalliesComment: Clearly meets the challenge but I don't find anything interesting going on. The centered door (not really the subject of the photo?) draws attention away form the light and shadow. I suppose I could be interested in what's behind the door, but the photo doesn't really force me to ask the questioon.
Sorry, may just be too esoteric for my taste. |

Lights Late Eveningby surajbharComment: Certainly delivers on the multiple light source the theme. But fails to hold my interest. My eye keeps sliding down and to the left to where the 1 is on the voting scale of 1 to 10. |

Lofty foundation in Deathby unknowndeathComment: Multiple light sources aren't obvious. I like the high contrast but the levels at the dark end are too intense. Composition could be better, possibly if it were landscape rather than portrait. This may suffer a bit from a foreground/background balance issue. |

See the lightby paynekjComment: Interesting idea. Centered subject hurts the overall effect. If you haven't already, suggest you read the "rule of thirds" material. It will help your composition. |

Over and under.by moviemanComment: To be honest I can't figure this out. I think I understand what you're trying to do but the composition hurts the effort. This may be a great idea but just impossibly difficult to capture. |

untiteldby EladComment: Multiple light sources aren't obvious. Technically the photo is a good workmanlike capture except the focus seems a bit off. The shed or tent in the background detracts somewhat.
Keep at it. You have the technical skill. Just apply it to a better subject. |

At the concertby heidaComment: We see quite a few "concert images" here and to be honest, I am generally not a fan of them. Generally find it hard to give them more than a 5.
A concert image is very hard to get right. Lighting is often low (or totally blown out). Usually there's a lot of movement. And to be frank, you often can't control where the photo is taken (unless you have better luck choosing your seats than I do.)
So the thing is ... you have attempted a photo with a very high degree of difficulty ... and pulled it off brilliantly. I like almost everything about it (comp, color, levels, contrast if not so much the subject) and it nicely renders the theme. Congratulations! Hope it does well in the voting. (9) |
