The Night Fallsby redfusionComment: Good subject. Love the gray scale. But the overall photo is too dark and the subject doesn't fill enough of the frame to do it justice. |

rode to hellby ASHISHComment: It is an unusual subject and you had to be there at just the right time. What was the truck carrying, good intentions? |

Turning Pointby FotowereldComment: I find this image disturbing. I think it's the eye that is in focus and seemingly without movement. Nice capture. |

Pure Gold Melting (look at from a distance, one meter - Brown sugar macro)by siggiComment: I like the color and crystaline structure. If I look at it from a distance, it's like looking up at the sun through fall folliage. To me though, the overall effect is noisy. I think you tried to help with the title, but it seems like you tried to stretch a so so photo with the title. Lots of threads talk about how the photo should stand alone and that the title won't make the photo. If I find myself agonizing too much over a title I try to stop short and ask myself whether the photo is capable of standing on its own. |

Cloud Coverby soccerdadComment: Nice setting. Wish I was there! I kie the colors, especially the water and reddish rocks. The slanted horizon bothers me a bit, so the picture would be better if you straightened the horizon in my opinion. |

Literally extraordinaryby audunaComment: Good idea. I think, however, that the contrast is too high or possibly that it is over leveled. The whites are blown out and the black is too. This makes the image look flat. There is obviously some depth to the photo and it would be better in my opinion to celebrate the depth and texture rather than eliminate it. |

Surrealityby AleciaComment: I like the effect of highlighting the face. I like the overall composition and the mood it creates (rught out of the 60's). I will be interested in seeing how you did it! Good luck. |

Defeated But Still Proudby Dr.ConfuserComment: Thanks for all the kinds words in your comments. To answer a few quesions ...
This is one of the Concorde aircraft. The type was retired recently in part due to the crash near Paris and in part due to the difficulty and expense of maintaining the aging fleet. I flew the Concorde in June 2000, courtesy of BA, and it therefore has a special significance for me.
This particular plane is now resident at the Museum of Flight in Seattle and is open for tours of the interior and a walk-around of the exterior. This is where I took this photo.
You may be interested in visiting the museum which has many aircraft of historical interest. Two of my favorites are an SR-71 (Blackbird) and the original "Airforce One", the US Presidents' plane. The original flew Presidents Eisenhour, Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon and many foreign diplomats. Here is a link to the Museum of Flight. |
