Cool shot! Rotate the image to get the water rings level and use Neat Image to polish it off. Looks like you've got some sensor dust spots- there's a big one to the right of the gull's head and another towards the top right corner.

I disagree with Linda. While it would be nice to have a row of trees in the background, that dark area does add some punch, and the crop is right where it should be. Cropping further would throw the balance off, and cloning more water above the bird would result in a blandly symmetrical composition. My only complaints are minor: the horizon isn't quite straight, and there appear to be some sharpening artifacts around the egret. This image would sell on DPCPrints.

This shot is my favorite in your Landscapes collection. Great color and composition. I'd probably crop the left side at the corner of the fence to eliminate the turn and the messy tree edge. Keep this spot in mind for a future challenge and come back when it's foggy, sunrise, etc...

You are clearly caught in a rut of way-above-average photos. Congrats!

Nice landscape, poor challenge concept. Your score is riding entirely on the strength of the green color and pretty composition. While two-thirds of your image is plant life (thus preventing any 1 votes), Nelzie nailed it- it's not obvious which plant is the focus of study. Your best bet here might have been to literally spell it out in the title: "Water Chestnuts Invade the River," or "Foreign Invader Takes Over the River."

Indeed, an excellent illustration and a wonderful example of the extension of photography into art. Fine use of color and composition. That said, I prefer the dazzling colors in your motion blur flower experiments.

Thanks everybody. It wasn't a question of whether to enter. I opened the RAW file about 4 minutes before the deadline, so I never would have made it.

My wife said, "How do you know that's Hopper?" Well, you got me! Welcome to the agonizing world of challenge scores. You're probably just a better model than Kris. ;-)

Excellent subject and good use of selective desat. A bit grainy, but suitable. Did you try sepia? 8
