Hmm... the odd lighting colors will work against you- it's generally better to just shoot outside in the shade or near a window. The composition is good, but an interesting background would really help (slate, marble, old wood, etc.)

A respectable entry, although the light is a little uneven. Sepia was a good choice. The jumbled appearance might cost you, as the higher scoring utensil shots usually feature a clever arrangement.

That's pretty darn cool, and a clever use of text. Nice job keeping your own reflection out of the shot. 8

Seven? Yes, and the angled composition is nice and dynamic, but the subject isn't especially interesting. The same brushes lying on a brightly painted background woth low, dramatic lighting might fare better.

Yep, there's seven of them, but snapshots of someone else's friends and family tend to score poorly unless there is something particularly special about the lighting or composition.

Good color and composition, but probably not the best choice of subject. The photo seems more 'about' the whole carousel than seven of anything.

Ha, ha... me neither. The concept relies entirely on the distinctive background to stand out in the crowd. With more time, I might have been able to REALLY camouflage her or get a more interesting expression (she looks bored). This was like a 90 minute speed challenge for me, so I can't complain.

I still like it better than my October Free Study, though, and that one was one of my high scores, so I'll be looking at it for a while. :-(

I'm really surprised this one didn't fare better. Maybe because the camera wasn't digital? ;-)

OK, knock it off! You're not allowed to be this good for at least another 5 years! Congrats on the green. Gotta mark you as a favorite to avoid the rush. ;-)

Hmm... nine votes of 1 or 2. Do we have some cats as members, or was this not black and white enough? ;-)
