Since everything is lying still, I would consider not using a flash, but a tripod instead. Also a smaller aperture would keep everything in focus.

Looks like a snapshot to me. The flash has left some sharp shadows, and the tiles on the floor are not 'horizontal'.

If I didn't know better I'd say this was one of those, "and this is picture I took of myself" shots. 8

I think it would have been a stronger image if the boy had not been looking out of the picture. The subject implies a lonely boy contemplating whatever, but I can't help getting the feeling he is watching something just outside the left edge. If he had been placed more to the right, it would look more as if he stared into nothingness, since there would more "nothing" to see in the picture.
That said, this is a very good shot.
