very well composed but the lighting could be better balanced. The book is lost at the bottom, and so reduces the impact of a nicely composed triplicate subject.

A well composed shot. Strong and stark image, conveying a feeling of brooding power.

Morning light - Bread and knife - Winter 2004.

While I like all the elements of the picture, (the subject, the arrangement, the textures, the monochrome treatment), here is what I think detracts from the whole. If you draw a line down the center, top to bottom, the right half has no real interest. It is just a continuation of elements from the left, and doesn't "become" a negative space. Having all the interest of the subject weighted to the left usually effects one's subconscious as darker, or awry, or discordant. A mental diconnect. This effect does not seem appropriate to the subject, and to my eye, detracts from the overall effectiveness of the picture. A different cropping might make all the difference.

Very nice composition. I like the centered sharpness, with softening in all directions. Very effective for the subject.

One of my favorite compositions of the group. Can't say a thing about how it might be better.

Blurs the distinction between photography and digital art, but an absolutely beautiful composition. A 10.

The butterfly isn't prominent enough to be the subject. Otherwise its a great looking shot.

I like the grainy "old" looking feel and the general compostion. But the large overexposed areas are too much; I loose interest.
