2005 In Bloomby Ice-Tea-1983Comment: The dead twig is pure distraction.
The highlights are overexposed.
The saturation on the yellows makes the grass appear unhealthy.
The black shadow is odd as it encounters the lawn.
All of these objectionable traits needed to be addressed at the time you took the photo--break off the twig or pull it out of frame, bracket your exposure, choose a different angle to take the photo from--perhaps putting the shady background behind the blooms.... |

Waiting for Work Depression Era 1929-1939by phylsy7Comment: I llike the angle you've taken on this well-known sculputre at the FDR memorial.
I think a tighter crop to remove the green in the upper right would help carry it off a bit better. This would also be a good image to experiment with B & W or desaturation, I think....as I am pondering what the harsh light and bronze patina do to the interpretation of the image. |

Roll Callby scalvertComment: Have to share this:
I placed a copy of this in my portfolio (it wasn't intentional) and then forgot about it.
My brother found the image and wrote:
"It looks like a photographers convention.
Question: How long does it take to take a group picture of photographers? Answer: I don't know I got distracted when they all exposed themselves."

Gee...thanks! I really need to re-think some of my snapshot habits--or get a faster lens. ;-)

they are right behind youby ceyvalComment: This is hilarious! It's too bad the photo couldn't have been just about the two boys on the right...
Technically well rendered. Nice timing for your capture. Great story in the image. |
