Bolshoi Ballet on Brazilby portComment: Lovely alliteration in your headline. How difficult it is to get a crisp shot under the usual circumstances (no flash?) at a performance...and you did capture her face with a beautiful expression! I think, especially for this challenge, that black and white might have been a better choice than the sepia tone. Nice example of how to capture the feel of dance. Luck. |

Lurkingby weavercComment: This has an outrageous oozy feeling to it! I look forward to discovering what sort of creature it is--hope you'll reveal. The brights do distract--wonder if they could be toned down some. |

A Nation Reflects, Mournsby slimComment: This is a newsy item, but I think your photo tells rather than shows. Perhaps if you'd included interested bookstore customers or an individual reacting to the display. As is, it simply documents a store display. Vertical lines need to be straightened and the inclusion of the angled side of the bookshelf gives the feeling that it might fall over. |

Wedding Season Has Arrivedby PaigeComment: This would make a nice shot for a feature story--perhaps not as the lead photo but as part of a series in a photo story. There is lack of contrast in the man's jacket and the whites are overexposed on the cake--tough subjects to capture well in a frame. Can't tell you how to cope with the problem, though, as I often run into it myself. |

Tennessee Real Estateby lilnukeeComment: This is a nice image. I like your treatment of the "For Sale" sign. I think you should crop to straighten the horizon line. There is also a lack of contrast in the foreground weeds which, under different editing rules, might be enhanced. |

Chili Peppers Rock London!by PixelstateComment: The subject is certainly appropriate, but the quality of the photo is not. There's too little information in the upper portion of the shot and the images on the screens are blown out. Focus and contrast would need to be greatly improved to make it into print. |

Visual Pollution to be banned!by neehaiComment: Neat artsy shot. Is it done in infrared? Hope you'll share after the challenge. Not sure how or if a newspaper would publish this as news photos not only have to grab the attention but also convey a story and entice the reader to read. |

Recent rain poses problem for boathouse.by daneagletonComment: Like the colors and contrast. I think the refleciton works to make this subject interesting. Think cropping from the right would help focus attention on your subject and would remove the distracting birch and green box. |

Mom'll be home soonby DigitalNoobComment: You've found a beautiful and evocative subject. Your title clearly conveys your interpretation of the scene, perhaps to disadvantage...it might have equally been called "waiting for the other to leave" Tough subject to capture! Perhaps a tighter crop from the left? |
