At homeby MambeComment: A beautiful classic portrait! That this is a self portrait makes this all the more expertly captured! Good luck in the challenge--I'm voting high for your image. |

cold body in the roadby eirasiComment: Sassy! Interesting take on portraiture. Love the way you make the centered composition work to advantage. Clean colors, wonderful texture--how could this be more perfect? Good luck in the challenge to one of my top picks. |

Boxesby utroComment: How playful! One of my top picks. Love the many layers present and implied in this self-study. Environment would be a hinderance under most scenarios, but it works perfectly here. Lens cap in the back pocket is a perfect touch. Good luck in the challenge. |

High-Key Bouquetby Judith PolakoffComment: Lovely and romantically played. Alstromeria was my wedding flower choice--so I'm endeared by your photo. Quibble with the upper left corner where the one blossom is too dark for the rest of the composition--it pulls the eye out of the frame. |

Pink budsby blancericComment: You spotted a lovely subject, but then...
The water droplets are a bit distracting--if applied, then a bit heavy on the mister--if not, then a paint brush would help reduce and refine them before shooting. DOF shows control, but the vertical stem and far leaf show color fringing--perhaps a processing artifact. Pink frame fights for attention--it's not just a DPC thing--use frames to contain your subject and subtly enhance and you'll do better. |

Beaver Lakeby ellamayComment: Very Impressionistic!
(There's a Beaver Lake near Syracuse, NY (Baldwinsville) but I doubt this is that, given the season.)
Yes! You have pretty light! Something not quite there in the presentation, but I do believe it is there in the photo--you might have to dig it out.

Look Ma - new sunglasses!by TrollManComment: Lovely picture of a swan--nice detail in the feathers, well exposed, nicely composed. I just fail to see how this meets the challenge. |

Lightheadedby RulerZigzagComment: Technical quality is lacking in this image. The selective desaturation combined with the oversaturation of the yellows has left unappealing spots on the subject's arm. The idea to obliterate the face by bouncing the flash of the mirror is commedable, and I guess that for some of us taking photos of ourselves in a mirror is "normal human activity" --just don't think you pulled it off. Don't mean to sound harsh, just being honest with my opinion. |
