Tranquilityby damjanevComment: Originally posted by backdoorhippie: Very nicely taken and processed. Feels just a little soft - possibly small aperture diffraction? A little bit of haloing on the slopes but otherwise very nice. |
Could be diffraction. Apparently f/16 is too small of an aperture for a 24mpx APS-C sensor. I did try some focus stacking but with no success. I'm yet to perfect this technique.
Thank you all on your kind comments. |

Storm Front Over Point Surby Bear_MusicComment: I wonder if you could have pulled more details in the clouds. Either in capture or in post.
Stunning image BTW. This is just my curiosity asking questions because mine lacks details in the clouds as well :-) |

Twin Towersby GeneralEComment: Except for the drama in the clouds there is little of the spirit of Ansel Adams in this shot :-(
No details in the tree, no sharpness in the clouds and that white house on the right just doesn't belong here. |

The Woods are Callingby godotComment: The tones in this image are too flat and the details on the tree lines in the back are lost. A total opposite to the work of Ansel Adams.

content with silence by aberrationComment: I like this one a lot. Sharp all over with crisp details. The tonal range is all over the zones. The thing i like the most is that the subject is so simple and effective. The Ansel Adams style is present in the image in all the aspects except the choice of subject, and that's, IMHO, the true spirit of the challenge.
BRAVO! |

An embrace of the "beguiling medium"by CoryComment: Although Adams is known to experiment with color film, his primary works was done in black and white. Even when he did work with color, his landscapes are full of details, high tonal ranges and vibrant colors. A total opposite of your submission.

St Joe Tree Farmby dtremainComment: I just can't see Ansel Adams in this shot :-(
The image is too grainy and kills the details in the shadows. There is not enough elements with tonal variation. It's just dark trees and cloudy sky. |

Thirty Degree Streamby giantmikeComment: There are rare situations where the centered horizon works well. This is not one of them :-( It distracts me from the other elements in the image. As with the other elements, Adams used lots of dodge and burn in developing the print in order to produce the characteristic dramatic tonal range he is famous for. Most of his famous images are processed during development. I would prefer a processing in which the vegetation on the left is a tad darker (one zone blow current) and the stream in the same zone as the snow. |

fluffby mitalapoComment: What is this? Is it an aerial shot from above the clouds looking down? Looks like that.
Whatever it is, i cannot decide how well it fits the challenge right now. I will come back and vote when i'm sure :-) |
