Hawk Attackby MarjoComment: my big wish for this picture is that the wonderful bokeh type background filled the whole image. the white sky is so overpowering, that it just makes me feel mildly disappointed. which isn't to say you HAVEN'T done a great job here; the detail and capture of the bird is really super. i think the bird could do with he white bits being made whiter (curves or dodge) but that aside, it's lovely. 7.

Time Stands Still for Twoby Nikolai1024Comment: taking a picture of something not moving isn't really stopped motion; it's just stopped. it's a nice (semi-classic) view of GCS, though it feels that to me the building is taking centre stage, rather than the non-desatted people. i do like that the people are almost dead centre (nice composition), but i think the selected desat doesn't quite work here; maybe the greyscales aren't dark or contrasty enough for max impact, or perhaps the people are just too small? 5. |

Sixth Chukkerby GermaineComment: i think this is a pretty fancy shot. the horse himself is brilliantly sharp and fantastically lit - his muscles are really enhanced by the natural light. it's a slight pity you didn't get it JUST the moment all four hooves are in the air (just like that famous 100+ year old photo), and i might be tempted to make this black and white or sepia as a nod to that historic picture (you know the one; two guys bet about the horse ever leaving the ground, so set a long row of cameras taking shots as the horse passes and basically creates the first motion picture). but i digress. this is a very nice. 7. |

Caught Mid-Yawnby LoreneComment: cute moggy. not sure that it's really a great example of stopped motion though; cat yawns normally last so long it doesn't really require any magnificent sense of timing... the angle is a bit unusual, which due to his (lovely) black coat makes it tricky to define his shape. and the eyes look positively insane! the fore and background (well the brown fabric) does work very well, and the colours are very visually nice. it's a good cat shot - 7. |

The Flipby cutlassdude70Comment: this would be more striking if i hadn't come across the other one that looks like it was taken in the same place first (i'm surprised he isn't in the shot - must have been just in front of you!)... the same criticism i had of that one applies here; the background is too messy and cluttered and detracts from the overall shot. a liberally application of the burn and blur tools might have reduced the impact of the background a bit. i would certinaly have cropped of the left portion of the picture, say half to an inch away from the flying persons head. i like the lad watching on the bike, gives something extra to the overall composition and life of the picture... 5. |

Urban Summer Funby madison461Comment: this is a cute candid shot, that has character. i especially like the high contrast and colours of the lad with a paler slightly washed out shades of the surroundings. i feel the composition is a bit off though, feeling neither centred or set to one side a la rule of thirds. regards to the challenge, i feel that the stopped motion is a bit inconsequential (it would look very similar and just as good on a slightly longer exposure), but it does still fit. but overall this is an immediately likeable shot, and a good example of a city life candid shot. 7. |

Tail Spinby JacquiDComment: cor! too much colour noise, purple fringing and grain on this, probably artefacts left over from a high ISO setting... i do sympathise; if indeed it was moving (though, to be honest, it looks like it might be resting on a bit of blu-tak underneath) i would imagine getting a stop motion effect at a macro scale to be a right sod. must say, the table surface is not a good choice for this sort of shot either; a piece of white glossy photo paper would probably improve things... 3. |

Fight Clubby steinarComment: i only just watched this the other night, and yes, you've captured the Fincher style exactly (though, there can only be one fight a time, naturally). the slightly muted, gently brown tinted colours works very effectively. a brutal and evocative picture, fantastically staged and taken; 10. |

Bump 'n' Jump by De SousaComment: excellent, albeit a little upsetting for the poor fish! hope he's okay! still a great shot, lovely bold bright colours, nicely dramatic and intriguingly well accomplished. 9. |

Gone SHOPPING!by bragurComment: this is super fantastic! the crop is genius. composition is faultless. and the overall feel (kind of floridian / miami for some reason) is very likeable, and has great visual impact. i love all the bright high contrasty colours, the white buildings, the trees, even the odd coloured car... you can feel your attention to detail, making sure every element is just so. can't wait to see the rest of your portefolio! 10. |
