| 09/04/2006 04:12:29 PM | The Road to Hellby BradComment: oooh. i like this. the beams of light are very dramatic! awe inspiring sky and landscape, and the straight open road is almost iconic. such a grandness of scale, and i'm hearing the big country song by those scottish rockers... personally, i would have cloned out that tiny car in the distance, and maybe somehow reduced he number of colours on the ground, but those points aside, really cool stuff. i'd be thrilled to capture an image like this. 9. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 09/04/2006 04:08:45 PM | TRANQUILby weegeeComment: there's something not quite ethereal enough to fully complement the soft, diffused light glow. maybe it's the lack of fairies? it does feel nicely tranquil, the water nice and sitll and the splash of red adds a nice shock of colour. the sky reflected in the water unbalances it a little bit. nice, but doesn't really get me enthused. 5. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 09/04/2006 04:05:49 PM | Sweet Dreamsby lauraodomComment: somewhat surprised by the total number of these sort of shots in this free study, but at least you've done a bit of an anti-geddes thing by shoving the sprog on the book case. it's cute in that it's not all that pretentious and actually has a sense of domestic realism which although not necessarily arty, certainly has a quality about it. i'll be honest, i probably have a heart of coal because baby shots generally do nothing for me, but at least this one has character. 6. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 09/04/2006 12:22:15 PM | The Golden Daysby FotoMunkiComment: i like the border; makes it very cinematic and adds an epic grandeur. for me, i can't quite decide about the sky. it looks almost sci-fi and martian, and yet this is obviously not the case with the villa / farm. the colour of the sky is effective, but it is sending mixed messages. however, i feel it's a very environmental composition though, and it seems like an inviting place to be. the picture got me thinking, and really, that's what visual art is meant to do. 7. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 09/04/2006 12:14:39 PM | Storm Front: Serenity IIIby hotpastaComment: this is one of the more effective shots to make use of the enlarged canvas... there is much to like about this, from the sparkly inviting water, the forest of masts, and the hazy skyline in the background (which complement the masts) all work for me. the greyscale is very pleasing too. i'm not entirely sure about the very obvious area of dodging to draw attention to the titular boat. it feels forced and unnatural. but overall, the shot has ambience; you can easily place yourself in the frame, hear the sounds of the boats moving... very nice, and a good choice for the study. 8. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 09/04/2006 12:10:16 PM | "left behind"by crystallineComment: nice sash!
sorry, couldn't resist... this is a great sensual highly charged image. i love the voyeuristic element of this, which somehow lessens the degree of gratuitousness is might have otherwise had. the sepia, level of noise and grain, and the lighting is also very nice and done to great effect. clearly, she's fit, which heightens the appeal of the image, but one thinks that with the artistic style and technical skill, the same would have been achieved if it were Jack Black. possibly. very lovely - 10. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 09/04/2006 11:57:40 AM | Freestyleby BrinComment: noble and majestic creatures. spiritual some say. i always thought they were slightly mad in the head and suspected they were plotting things, and by thunder, you've captured the evidence completely. it's a hilarious image, superbly captured. i like the crop, composition, the nothing but skies background, and the lack of any post processed stylistic flourishes or pretentions is refreshing. a stonking image, and very entertaining. 9. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 09/04/2006 06:43:30 AM | Morningby BudComment: a very nicely serene photograph, almost sleepy in it's calming nature. as an example of this sort of fish restuarant friendly image, it's pretty much flawless. the shadow / darkness of the bank in the bottom right corner doesn't quite sit with the rest of the image, and i feel the top of the post is a bit close to the edge of the frame in terms of ocmposition, but that aside, it's pretty nice. the blues are all very pleasing, and the boat a nice feature. 6. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 09/04/2006 03:59:09 AM | old manby Travis99Comment: this is so cinematic! i love it; the selective desat is evident, but it feels natural and the application has been sucecssful. everything is bang on perfect here; the colours, the composition, the stylistic elements. a fantastic image that really stands out from the humdrum. the guy in the shot has so much character! and it has a sense of motion that is both appealing and feels very real. a really deserved 10. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 09/04/2006 03:47:31 AM | River Driveby SherwinJamesComment: this is taken from a fantastic viewpoint. the curves of the road is very visually pleasing, as are the muted colours and tones brought about from what is in shadow. two minor quibbles is that i wish it was taken with a shorter exposure because the sligh blur of the traffic doesn't quite fit (sharp or super streaky blurry generally works i think) and the difference between shadow and not shadow is too obvious, i'd have cropped the top bit out. it's a good picture overall though; i especially like the sense of scale and how small the cars seem... 6. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
