New Housing Developmentby ldrider51Comment: The sky was totally overcast, the scene dark, the sky wasn't blown in the photo. HDR was used properly, with 6 exposures over a wide range, and the HDR processing done to faithfully recreate the lighting as I saw it with my eyes, with the exception of a bit of oversaturation to bring up some of the contrasting colors.
The subject matter was an attempt to portray the expansiveness of the development, the size of the hole in the side of the hill. Unfortunately, that didn't translate well to the small format. Bad choice on my part.
Thanks for all the positively presented criticisms. |

Candle on the Hearthby ldrider51Comment: All very good comments. I blew this one, twice - I noticed the scene as we were getting ready to leave my in-laws' home. Quickly set up the tripod, metered it, and pushed the button on the electronic remote release. Prior to taking the pic, I made only a small adjustment to the scene, moving an item from between the candle and the fire screen. Didn't even notice the label on the jar until I checked the photo on the computer. Blowing it a second time, I hurried it, doing minimal post processing sitting in a chair in their living room and then uploaded it to DPC.
Afterwards, too late for the challenge, I improved it and posted it to my portfolio. See it here: //www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=424147

Nature's Fireby neenee1999Comment: I like this but I wonder what it would have looked like in portrait with the red tree just right or left of center. |
