Just curious, was it your intention in post production to make this scene look unrealistic?

This image is really neat! Is the cicada frozen, or have webbing on it, or what? I like that you have the texture of the insects body along with the wings. It looks like I can reach out and touch it. Very cool!

Hi, I'm new here and when I voted on your photo, I wasn't able to read the description? Any how, After reading your description I'll admit I like this picture a bit better. I agree with you about humans pretty much being worthless to the environment and world around us. I always say if all humans died tomorrow, the world and would thrive. If all insects died tomorrow, everything would die along with it. Makes you think. Back to your photo, I do like the composition and mood of it very much. My only complaint (and this is just my nit picky self talking here) is it doesn't look enough like a photograph to me. Obviously it is a photograph, but it looks so CGI to me. The people in the photo look cut and paste in my eyes. But hey, this is just my way of seeing this image. Obviously enough people loved it and it got a blue ribbon. So, I say congratulations to you! Even though this image was not my favorite, it is obvious that a lot of thought and work went into this image, so it is well deserved. Great job!

The only issue I have with this image is the over use of the high pass filter. I personally am not a fan of this filter unless it is used in a very subtle way. Just my 2 cents.

I kind of like this photo. One suggestion would be to try taking the shot at different times of day. It would be a little more interesting if there were a lot of dramatic clouds in the sky. Also if your using Photoshop, use the black and white layer mask and adjust the color tones before the b&w conversion. This allows you to adjust the colors of the image as a b&w to make it really pop out and not look so flat. Maybe turn the chair so that it faces to the left, because right now the chair facing right pulls the viewers eye away from the image. Lots of potential here. Good job!

This image fits the bill perfectly in this challenge. It is put together well without the cut and paste look. The colors are stunning and truthfully I find this image to be a bit humorous (where are they all going, Outer space)? At the same time it is dramatic and puts a good story in ones mind. Good job!
