Daniel Boone homesteadby cdr1401Comment: Too structured, and the vignette is very distracting, particularly with what it does on the right edge (is that a path?). |

Drombeg Stone Circleby pert86Comment: Great site. I don't know if it's that you're not allowed to be closer, but I'm thinking there's a far more interesting composition to be had here, even if you raised the camera up a bit and cropped in if the sky was a complete wash. |

1847 Bastion Galleryby grahamgatorComment: What, you couldn't wait for the sun to line those spots up? ;) I'm kidding, but I would have loved to have seen it that way. My only critique is that you should have been a hair further right so that the tunnel is perfectly centered all the way down. 6 (would have been 7 with the tunnel fix, and 8 with the light) |

V&A Museumby DistantColoursComment: See that line across the top? It's so close to the edge that you have to take the time to make it run parallel. It's nearly a nice piece of symmetry, but as is it's a sloppy piece of near-symmetry. Finish the work. 6 becomes a 4. |

Ye Olde Courthouseby mluComment: For a main subject it's too lost in the composition. I'm guessing you could have moved around and still worked something nice with the lamppost and the reflection while better highlighting the building. 4 |

Tomatillo Huskby JakeKurdsjukComment: Originally posted by skewsme: I love tomatillo husks - nice interpretation here. Did you process this after the challenge was over? It has a lot of possibility. Don't worry about the sharpness comment. DPC has a sharpness fetish and macros usually need to be ~f/22 :P The allure of your image is its waving in and out like a vertiginous stairwell. FWIW you can sharpen more than once in minimal editing, should you choose to. |
Thanks for taking the time to comment. Basic editing is a huge challenge for me. With the team thing starting I never got to do anything significant with it, though I did a basic B&W at first just to see where it would go. Glad you got the idea of the intersection of 3 dimensions with a flat DOF. I've got copies at a bunch of apertures and f/8 seemed to be the most interesting. If I ever get an edit worth sharing I'll post a link. |
