Wish I had taken this when I was there... I found it interesting about the color shift in the stones between the pre & post Civil War construction... This is for me a wonderful perspective on an incredible monument to a "Father of a Nation.

Dan, I joined this site the day I first found it looking for an image of the Golden Gate Bridge. I saw the value of being associated with it and am pleased to say that I have learned much more about my passion for photography than my 'results' indicate. I shared this site with my family and my great friend C_Steve_G and they have too benefited from their association with DPC. I have an immense appreciation of the knowledge and inspiration many of my favorites add to this site, yet none of them compare to you (as GREAT as many of them are) you are without a doubt my very favorite! Space-A-Plenty

This shot has some unrealized potential in my view. Not being able to see the area above the top of the picture which may have mandated the crop I would have liked to see a different camera angle to eliminate the highway at a minimum and the power lines as well. I also believe there could have been some extra value in post processing that would have raised this by at lest 2 points. Its a great view!
