If the light was used just little better this shot would win. A sponge has so much texture, but your picture is a little over exposed in some areas and others the shadow hides that texture.

The texture is great...I like the wood grain and the texture that was left by the saw blade. However, the picture doesn't wow me at all. 5

Nice smooth testure, but the picture is not interesting and the color are boring. IMHO this is a hard shot to pull off and make great, but I am no professional.
