Kersplashby Ja-9Comment: Hi from the Critique Club.
What a special shot. I hope this is somebody special to you and that you have this hung somewhere around your house. Liquid in Motion. Your shot definitely meets the challenge, and in such a special way with a child playing. That such a little person can make such a big splash, really surprising. The arc of water below the hand seems to suggest almost a delicate playfulness but the mountain of splash beneath suggests far more energetic action was going on. So fun.
Technicals, I can't find anything to complain about. I like how full the scene is, and the ball really gave the scene depth and context for me. Sure maybe we could have wished the sunlight had been more even or delicate on the little guy's face, but it's hard to want for more with such a sweet subject. (And what a lucky break this happened during the perfect challenge.)
Keep shooting!

loose endsby IreneMComment: Pretty. I like how despite such similar colors throughout the scene that the rope still stands out strongly. |

Gathering Rootsby LydiaComment: Not a lot of contrast in the scene, but still the rope stood out and the scene was interesting. I like it. |

Don't let go!by sarampoComment: Great perspective. I found the person more of the subject than the rope since the rope nearest my eye was out-of-focus, but still loved the shot. |

Boater lost the boat...by power_tofuComment: Greetings from the Critique Club.
Congratulations on surviving your first entry into a challenge. Unfortunately it does not appear that your image connected with many voters idea of a minimal scene. I have to say I agree with some of the other commenters that the scene is quite busy, and for a minimalist scene I would expect a lot of negative space with one primary subject. So your image to many of us just did not fit the challenge very well. (Although there were a couple of people who gave you the top score of 10 too, so for some you really did connect quite well.)
I would be interested in your comments on how this scene was minimal to you. (I love when people describe their process, it helps me expand my thought process when I look at images so that I don't dismiss a shot I think doesn't meet the challenge. Your kind of image can make me think harder about a topic, and what alternative ideas may be possible.)
Technically, I like the image overall. I love those weeds poking up and the lone man on the dock. I also like the drama and darkness in the sky. The tall post right by the boat I found a bit distracting since it pulled my eye away from the boat.
I hope you stick with us and show us more of what you can do. It might not feel like you were off to a great start, but ignore the score and keep shooting.
