Jazz by L1Comment: Laurie, this picture is excellent. can you send me a postcard of this...I'll send you another one of mine. Just kidding. But if you will, I will too.
What makes this shot good is the angle, the sharpness, and even the background. First ribbon? I am sure there will be more. Congratulations.

Tulipby NeilComment: I haven't voted but if I did, this is my pick for the ribbon. I like the colors and the lighting. It also hit the abstract theme right on its head. YOU are a WINNER in many ways. |

Trois by HRoxasComment: Henry, congratulations (kabayan)! It is a superb shot. You have the eyes of an artist. Sure it was an artwork but yous did frame it in an even more artistic way.

Out of Proportionby L1Comment: Congratulations Lauriel! Well-deserved placing.
I will send the postcard late this week. I had it printed today and pick it up on Friday.

PS. I think you'll make it to top 10. The blue ribbon winner admitted he broke the rules in PP. What a pity...it is such a nice shot. Message edited by author 2004-05-05 11:08:04. |

Misty Morning by librodoComment: Thank you very much for your comments and your votes. This is a very lucky shot for me. I am not much of a landscape but rather more of a portrait person.
The first night of our package tour to Vietnam was in Halong Bay area. I woke up at 5:00 a.m. and was out in the shores overlooking the Halong Bay at 6:00 a.m. (since breakfast won't be ready until 7:00). I spotted 3 fishing boats. I took plenty of shots (close to 50). I was also using my newly purchased 50 mm. f1.8 lens (per suggestion of dpchallenge members). In the LCD, I wasn't impressed with my shots. I would rather save my children pics so I deleted a lot. But when I downloaded the un-deleted ones in my computer, I was surprised by the clarity of the details and the drama of the early morning mist.
Darcy, I check the exif file again and it was f1.8. Sorry I am not a very technical person so I couldn't answer the question. maybe somemmembers can answer this.
Once again, thank you very much for all the critiques.

House And Waterby MonaComment: It's very good. You have been very generous with your use of "curves". Effect is nice but it looks a bit unreal. I like the composition very much. 7 |
