Nice shot, with lovely highlights on the meat (and on the top of the bowl). You could probably do away with the yellow bit on the right, and the bluish border on the bottom.

3. It's Complicated

Captures my eye, and forces me to keep looking. Looks like your framed your picture with the buttons on top and bottom, but this does put the eyecatching subjects (persona, desk, lettering) right in the middle with the "foreground" being a bit large.

I see it, and a nice subject to use for this effect. Also well photographed. It must be our eyes that expect the lighting to be the same left and right, and therefore interpret the same picture in a different way.

These are nice subjects that make a nice picture and offer plenty of inspiration for subsequent shots. The thing that caught my eye is the bright reflection on the back wall, which seems to throw your lighting off. If you could add some shoes, or even unprocessed leather, this would make the "shoemaker" notion more complete. While you're at it, you might also try to form a little more coherent still life - the objects in this shot seem a little disconnected.
