| 03/18/2004 09:45:43 PM | Venetian Blind Linesby jsmileyComment: Very parallel. However, all it is is black lines on a white background. Nothing special. I wouldn't know what it was of except for the title. The lines are also uneven widths, a personal preference of mine is to have them even. Good job fitting the challenge though. |
| 03/18/2004 09:43:09 PM | Visual Audioby christie3Comment: Lol, I thought about taking a picture similar to this. However, it needs to be sharper/focused better. I would have preferred a different angle, either sharper/more extreme or none at all/straight on. Also, although the headphones give the viewer an idea of what it is that you are photographing, they take interfere with the parallel lines. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 03/18/2004 09:38:08 PM | Parallel patternsby i_skyComment: I really like the concept of this photo, focusing on the feet, but I'm missing the connection with the challenge. Is is the patterns on the wing that you are talking about? If so, I don't see a parallel there. Or is it with the lighting lines? The DOF is really awesome, highlighting the orange foot in contrast with the rest of the picture. |

| 01/21/2004 12:41:01 AM | My past is fading, my present is clear, but my future is obscuredby AmiYuyComment: Oh man, missed a 5 by .004 points. :(
Yes, I realized that "obscured" didn't work until just after the voting began, it should have been "undefined" like Pepette said. And the picture was rather boring, hence why I chose the one with the extreme DOF. The title did factor a lot into making it interesting, that's what I was going for.
Yay, JamieWillmott noticed the tiled horizon! The leading lines in that were just too cool to pass up.
Hahaha! ChrisW123- I was going to enter one taken at the same time with the title: "Through the Eyes of My Dog"
I should have probably put something into the foreground to pull some interest, but I was on a limited schedule and it didn't occur to me. Not to mention I felt a bit silly for putting my camera down on the ground in the middle of a shopping center. ^_^
Thanks everyone for taking the time to comment and vote! And you too, bruchen!! Message edited by author 2004-01-21 00:42:28. |
| 01/09/2004 02:44:49 AM | New Every Morningby AmiYuyComment: Yes, the water is actual dew. Yes, I shouldn't have cropped so tightly and offset it one way or the other. And yes, the DOF, well could everyone please decide? I liked it, apparently many didn't. It's the best I could do with a fully automatic camera. I have to force it into macro mode to get any DOF, so, there you go.
Thank you to whoever gave me the 7s, 8s, 9s, and 10!!

| 01/09/2004 02:39:29 AM | Just paint.by AmiYuyComment: Yes, I forgot to sharpen it somehow, it was a last minute submit and I'd been fixing the contrast so much that I thought I did it, but I hadn't. *kicks self repeatedly* Doesn't represent anything, it's as the title says, 'just paint.' I have trouble getting true blacks, thus the need for Black and White, the original was, beleive it or not, brown and grainy. That was the only way I could bring out the black background. As for the color, well, it occured to me, but I didn't take the time to pull some out, but it would have been lost in the B&W processing anyway.
Thanks for the comments, not that I did too well, but I felt like I had to explain some things, if just for my own silly satisfaction.

| 11/21/2003 10:49:19 PM | The Lowdown On Download: If You Didn't Make It, Don't Take It!by pupparazzoComment: It took me awhile to figure out that those were CDs in the background. They were so shiny I thought that they were a ribbon or something, probably because the award is so dominate that it draws your eye directly to it, and I hadn't yet looked at it for more than a few seconds (I know how stupid that sounds...but it's true).
Your title seems um..."trendy" with the wording you used, but your picture seems very classic because of the award and sheet music. Perhaps you could try to harmonize them a bit more next time, that threw me off as well. I like the reflections from the CDs though, adds some nice light. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 11/21/2003 01:19:51 AM | Crowded sky, forgotten clouds.by mclaren_chooComment: It might have worked for the challenge if you had given a title that actually showed it as propoganda (it didn't to me at least). The one you used sounds more for a gallery than to represent propoganda. Perhaps "The sky's so crowded with civilization, have you forgotten the clouds?" *shrugs* Something a bit more.
I love the way you captured the various curves of the highways, but where are the clouds that the title talks about? | Photographer found comment helpful. |
