Thanks so much. I appreciate the encouragement. I'm not put off at all. It's an art form and to each his own set of sensibilities and tastes. I'm pretty stubborn about the way I like to show things - and I am certain I will learn a lot here about the technical aspects of what I want to do without sacrificing, at all, any of my artistic goals. There are some stunningly good photographers in the halls. I'm pretty gratified that a few folks liked it a lot.

Catherine, so this was your picture! IMHO it should have scored a lot higher. It's just beautiful. Pictures like yours tend to score a bit lower at this site, I'm guessing it's because people don't take (or don't have) the time to look slowly, but maybe it's something else. Who knows.

Thanks. Sometimes I find the beauty of things is not so much in their whole but in some of their most unlikely, and sometimes minute, parts and actions. Photography is so cool to me because I can show those parts. Of course, it does leave a lot of people scratching their heads and saying "what the HECK is that?" Those are usually my favorite shots :)

Even though the moon looks like an ad for Chrysler (smile) I think this is simply wonderful. You have captured perfectly the floaty motion of chute falling. Beautiful contrast and blur treatment. If you'd had a round moon, I'd have called this a ten and a half. -9

Stunning composition. The long field with the very sharp front is beautiful and draws your eye into the photograph . The all white sky is a little disconcerting at first but the more I look at it the more I like it. Did you have to do a lot of color adjustment, I wonder. -9

I love this photograph. It's abstract and, indeed, very "modern" in appeal. I love the level of sharp and contrast you chose. Beautiful. -9

Gorgeous image. Beautiful clear tones. I expect it's the ripple but the gradient looks a llittle rough and is mildly distracting. Good job on the lighting - I'd like to know how you lit this shot and positioned your camera to take it. -9

Lovely. So crisp and clear - a perfect balance of black and white tones. Oddly enough, I especially like the small opaque bubble in the top left. Beautiful. -10
