Fashion or not, its those imperfections, and detail in the skin that makes us human different from plastic manequins. I've seen alot of fashion photography in my life and they all do cloning imperfections and do smoothing, but they also maintain a limit that if you cross it it doesn't look human anymore. Plastic like this is only good for DPC. I mean man look what neatimage did to that blue thing covering her head. I doubt the fashion world can accept something like that. Fashion photography must have detail too. If you would of said it's experimental or something like that I would of bought it but fashion is not an excuse for this. No way.
I am only trying to tell you that is wrong to waste your obvious talent going the DPC way. A way that will hardly be accepted anywere else but here. Take it or leave it, it's my opinion. I think that blue ribbon doesn't worth the amount of bad habits people develop on this site. You do how you wish. |

Unbelievable. Guess that's the prize for being a recognizable and very well liked artist on this site.
Of course, compositionally it is as great as ever, although I'd have loved to have seen a more colorful background. The black seems to really point out the over-sharpening where a more natural background may have helped hide it a little more. Also, once again, would that I had a bank of "exotic" looking people to shoot.. seems to really make a punch with North Americans.
Anyway, for me, a touch less of smoothing and sharpening would give this photo some real life..
Guess that's why I usually don't score well here. |
As I also commented during challenge, I completely agree with everything Artyste says. It's a pitty that this site has become a "whoever is the most popular in the forums" wins. No offence intended to librodo, and nothing against him, it is the only image I commented in the challenge, that means it clearly triggered my attention, I really feel the image would be wonderful with regardless how much noise. Like this it looks like the poor girl is wrapped in a plastic bag, a manequin a doll anything but human. You have true talent it is obvious and it's a pitty that you ruin your work just to please the DPC forums audience.
However congrats for the ribbon. Message edited by author 2005-09-05 15:27:56. |

Delicate & Lovely by librodoComment: As much as I like the image the neatimage or noiseninja or whatever you did to it anoyes me. It's just unnatural looks like freaking plastic doll. I prefere noise no matter in what amount. I'd love to see this without it. |

Umbrella Blownby JPRComment: this looks verry good but that black part of it is weird and I don't understand it's purpose other than to hide something. I think a 3x2 crop at the top even if you only keep half the umbrella would be much better. |
