This is absolutely wonderful. I like the mixture of the snow and sunny sky, it gives the picture great depth. The tonal range captured is excellent with great preservation of details. The shadows are excellent leading lines and the subject of the boat is wonderful.

I like the tonal range of this shot and find the choice of extra sky intriguing. Maybe the positioning feels a tad off to me, maybe to due it being slightly off-center. Good job!

I like how this goes against the grain with definite highs and lows with the Black and White approach, I like it. I think what may have hurt is the fence and lack of definitive subject.

I think composition here is pretty good, though I would have to agree with the busy background, though it could be much worse. I think there are a few things that hurt the shot however. First, there appears to be an overall yellowish cast that doesn't play nice with skin tones. Second, the lighting feels kind of flat to me and doesn't give much depth. And lastly, it's focus is just slightly off enough to take away from the clarity aspect of the shot. Overall you did very nicely and captured the girl wonderfully. You're on the right track, it's just a matter of the details of the technical aspect that would make the difference with this shot.

That is why I believe it scored the way it did. Hope that helps and keep shooting!

Thank you all so much for your kind comments!

It's true Deb, I did stick it there yes. I should have made noticed the finger indents in the snow. It was my wife's idea and I didn't even plan on shooting for this challenge (conceptual usually isn't my thing), but we found some vines growing by our neighbors house and stuck it in the snow.

Way to go Don. I love how you are not afraid to go against the DPC crowd's perception. I really like the effect the longer exposure had here. The sharp little trails are neat. Well done.

Congrats on the Brown Peter! I speaks to me as post New Years Eve party, after the fireworks are gone. It was probably too ambiguous for the general DPC crowd, well done!
