This is a terrific idea, and you pulled it off just fine. The cropping and composition are excellent. The problem here is that it could have been a better image if you'd made it a bit lighter and a little more contrast. Imperfect Illusion/Bad Pun

Peace on earth? Is that what you were going for here? It took me a minute of studyng it to come to that conclusion. Proof that taking time to study a picture can be enlightening. Great concept, thought out and executed. Technically the lighting is a bit too harsh, resulting in an overexposed portion. A lower wattage, or moving the light source further away would probably be an effective solution.

Heaven or Hell?

Most certainly not Hell, in my opinion. Not nearly dark enouigh for that! The picture is quite lovely. The green is like a carpet, and the hills illuminated beautifully from Heaven. I would always associate LIGHT with HEaven and darkness from Hell.
The only thing I'd take issue with here is that the focus appears soft on my monitor.
