The Long Sprint Home by jagarComment: ok it's been more than a year since this challenge but this photo has always been rattling around in my head, especially since i've learned more and more... i've gotta say this shot truly is awesome. To say the least you fully nailed "in the style of HCB" and i'm writing this now because i am starting to finally understand what that means. thank you. |

Fiery by gyabanComment: Congratulations for all the achievements from this photo alone... but you do realize that if you beat langdon for the top spot it means that you have to run the site afterwards, right?? :) |

Day 13 - watchoo lookin at fooby mrchhasComment: Originally posted by spiritualspatula: Nice shot- the yellow and black is really eye catching. The noise lets you down a bit, but it's remarkable you shot this at that shutter speed. I assume you must've rested it on the ground/surface? |
Yes I had my hand rested on the ground and the lens front touching the floor - took 3 or 4 shots in all. I had another with the entire body in focus but this one looked better to me.
Originally posted by markwiley: Very nice. I have the same body, but you are much better at handling noise than I am. When I try shooting at this high and ISO the noise is terrible. What is your secret? |
No secret! Above iso 400 the 550D just spits out noise in my opinion but in this case it's all masked by the similar colored background and some quick post processing on the eyes and body. I upped the vibrance and luminance a touch in Aperture and also upped the shadows as it was quite darker originally. Finally a simple sharpen and that's it! Though I hope to one day start a thread like the ones you see every once in a while "My new 5D m iii just came in the mail!" :) |
