Sorry about the comment yesterday, had a bad day. I like the image, nice symetry, exposure, use of color, etc. But as nice as it is, it's not a still life. Would make a nice landscape or lighting entry but not still life.

Sorry about the comment yesterday, I had a bad day. Interesting portrait, I'm not sure why you decided to chop off the top of the head and bottom of the chin, but it's your image. As far as still life goes, I have been informed that there is a definition that has to do with movie pr shots and I suppose that this could qualify as one of those. Good lighting focus and all of that I just didn't think that it qualified at first. I will re-rate it.

Sorry about the comment yesterday, really bad day and I took it out on a bunch of people. I agree that your image is of inanimate objects, I did realize that they were bronze. I guess my major problem with it is the background, it's very distracting, still lifes almost always have a very plain patterned or neutral background as to not distract from the object of interest, but I guess not everyone has access to a studio so I won't count that against you. Not to be offensive but it appears a snapshot that was taken with a disposable camera. A much shallower DOF would have helped this image greatly. Exposure problems include blocking up under the throat and burnt out on the snout. I will conceed that this could be construed as a still life and will re-rate it as such.

Sorry for my comments yesterday, I was having a bad day and took it out on a number of people. That being said the graphic element of your image is interesting, I think I would have prefered it if the boards would have been tilted a little more and maybe more evenly spaced. I'm having a hard time deciding whether this one qualifies as a still life.....it does meet many of what I would consider the criteria but I feel somethings missing. Oh well I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and re-rate it.

Sorrry for the comment yesterday, had a bad day and took it out on everyone. Not your average still life, they are usually not done on location, but I guess not everyone has access to a studio. Good composition, exposure, and all that. Interesting choice of subject, I'll re-rate it.

Sorry for what I said yesterday, I had a bad day and took it out on alot of people. I think your image would be better suited for a weather, lighting, or maybe even a shadows challenge but in my opinion just because it's an object and still doesn't make it a still life. You have nice composition and DOF, I would like to see a little more light on the first one, or maybe if all of them were on, but regardless I don't think it belongs in a still life competition.

Sorry for the comment yesterday, it was a bad day and I took it out on alot of people. As far as your image I think it would make a fine entry in a shadows or a lighting challenge, I would crop in on it a bit concentrating more on the building and not on what's around it. However I don't feel that it's a still life just because it's night and life is still.

Sorry for the comment yesterday, it was a bad day. The clock is too centered in the photo with bad reflection from flourescent lights, also off color from the same. Generally in the photography world hand on a clock are set at 10 and 2 or 4 and 8 not a dead fast rule but if you look at almost any add with a clock or watch in it you'll notice it. A tighter shot would have been better. Now for the big argument around here, does it meet the topic? Time stands still = life stand still?? If this is what your after then I would have to say no it does not. If you are simply taking a photo of a clock then possibly it does and I will score it under that assumption.

Sorry for the comment yesterday, bad day.. Technical aspects of your picture are alright. lighting is pretty good. composition is alright however I would like to see something on the left, maybe the cat could be looking at something instead of starring off into space. focus need some help it's focused in front of the cat, would be better if it was on the eyes themselves. Other than that it is still not a still life, I know this is a controversial subject here right now but in my opinion just because life is still does not make it a still life in the classical sense which is what the assignment was.
