6.2by MargaretNetComment: I think you guessed about right. Maybe a little lower with general DPC voting. It's a great scene, seems to have a bit of diminished IQ -- perhaps telephoto with just a bit too low shutter speed or because it's a tight crop of a bigger scene. Or perhaps just post processing softening you applied. 6.2 |

It's a Toss Up! by scarbrdComment: I thought about this, but I'm not a good catch! And I can't imagine it coming out better than this. Fantastic job! |

Falling Water Cascades outtake by MinsoPhotoComment: This is definitely better in composition, because the foreground waterfall is a good focal point, and then your eye can wander and explore the other water areas or rocks. To me though, overall, the light looks to harsh, leading to a bit too much contrast and no "soft" feel to the photo. By that, I mean the painterly, soft feel you get from a great landscape.
Other issues: overexposure of the water where it pools.
I love landscapes in portrait orientation though...you might have captured this with the front falls at the bottom of a portrait shot. Using that as a strong foreground, the rest of the scene becomes just a gorgeous backdrop, adding depth to the photo.
See the work of David Muench if you want great examples of the technique. |
